Christmas Party in Dublin
I (and another colleague) was lucky enough to be whisked off to Dublin last weekend with our clients for a sort of combined Christmas Party. The main feature of the weekend was a day at the races on Saturday at a place called Fairy Hill, about an hour north of Dublin. Well, I think it's about 10 & 0 now; the number of times I've bet on a horse/race and lost, so really, from a winning point of view it was a shocker, but that wasn't really the point, it was a fun day! The highlight being my friend Colin, who suggested we both chose a random horse (a horse that we think looks fit and capable of beating it's competitors) from the parade they do before the race and put 5 euros on them winning. And would you believe it, Colin's horse came in first, and with odds of 31-1, he thoroughly enjoyed the 155 euro's he walked away with. I attributed it to my lucky hat, but he wouldn't have any of it.
The rest of the weekend involved a fair bit of eating and drinking in Dublins many colourful restaurants and bars followed by even more drinking and eating in our hotel. Aside from the weather, which was more apocalyptic than anything nostra damus could've predicted, more tempestuous than Shakespeare could've described to us, it was a really enjoyable weekend filled with many laughs.
